Canyon Lodge Yellowstone Has Anyone Been To Bright Angel Lodge Cabins On Grand Canyon South Rim?

Has anyone been to Bright Angel Lodge Cabins on Grand Canyon South Rim? - canyon lodge yellowstone

I will be in February. I'm in a car. What you have there and have pictures of the cabins. You are looking for inexpensive ideas on what to do and also photos of the actual disposition of property other than photos, travel guides standard. I can not find a few stalls.

I stayed in cabins at Bright Angel several times and they remain one of my favorite places, if I get one (there are only a few, hopefully).

Most of these historic houses were built in the 1930s and the layout and design varies slightly from one another. Some devices are simple, but most are combining two or more separate rooms. All of them are log cabins and the interior is small and rustic, but cozy. It is a bed, a small desk, two chairs and a small bathroom. Some have a small bar - I do not know if they have any TV or not (I know that some of them anyway).

The cabins are located right on the edge) near the path of the famous Bright Angel Trail (west of Bright Angel Lodge. Parking is in the "general" in the spaces between the boxes. With respect to the distribution of goods ... Main building of the Bright Angel Lodge, there are traditional houses in the west (left) and at the end of them, the group of a dozen units of the cabin near the edge. Disable the loopWay as if you were at Bright Angel Park, but the attraction for the parking of Bright Angel and the achievement of single-lane asphalt road in the cabin.

How to do things in order ... Free transport from the lodges to Hermit Rest to run from December to February, but you are the way to the hermit in the West Coast and stop at the rest (with a view towards something on the rest of the year) does not make it. If the weather is beautiful and the roads are clear, it is a good way for "the way to the edge" that leads all the way to the chapel, which remains well Yavapai Point. It is an exhibition of Nice geology at Yavapai Point excavations and small prehistoric ruins and the museum in the vicinity of Grandview associated high point (east) of the boxes. Find your local listings to see if there are presentations Ranger's happening in the Sanctuary of age (which is well worth a visit).

Be sure to see other historic buildings along the edge. The most famous is the great Tovar The hostel, built in 1905 with the main hall. Butso do not forget the gift shop built in 1905, Hopi House visit (to resemble an indigenous people), Lookout Studio, Hermit's (rest and Kolb Brothers Studio right) of the public, often free art shows. Many historical buildings (including some of the huts) were designed by renowned architect Mary Jane Colter southwest.

If the weather is clear and the roads are free of ice, I personally recommend at least a trip to one of the paths. The experience is somewhat lower in the gorge and feel the walls that soar very different and more rewarding than to remain passive on the edge. Also, only 1.5 miles from Bright Angel in the nursing home would be first to be a pleasant walk. Wear comfortable shoes, bring plenty of water and remember that it is more difficult to climb than the bottom. If the roads are still frozen (the number of large storms at Christmas) had you wait for the excursion or get at least Yak-Traks of his shoes.

One last comment, not whether it ... South Basin is at an altitude of 7000 meters, which means thatthat, unlike many of Arizona, a real winter. You can get heavy snow storms (although they are usually short term) and can during the day and night, below zero cold (check your antifreeze, when driving). Dress appropriately.

Enjoy! Winter is a good time to visit the Canyon. The prices are low and it is very quiet and peaceful, with no big summer crowds.
